OK, so kids are in bed after trick or treating and I finally have a chance to sit down and read the paper. What do I find?
Christmas flyers. Yup, that’s what I said — Christmas flyers!
Flyers telling me to “Celebrate the Season!” and have a “Very Happy Holiday!” even though we have Halloween costumes strewn around the living room. I’m supposed to look at Christmas trees before I have the chance to compost our pumpkins. That’s some impeccable timing.
The cynical side of me that hates the over-commercialized aspects of holidays feels like this is going a little too far, but the its-cold-outside-and-I-am-craving-a-gingerbread-latte side of me is pretty stoked that it’s almost Christmas season. I think I love that Christmas countdown app on my phone even more than the kids do.
Anyways, I’m sitting here with a stomach full of Halloween candy (for which I’m going to have a nasty sugar hangover tomorrow), and I’m starting to get excited about Christmas trees, lights, decorations, stockings, baking, and cozy time in front of the fireplace.
But, first things first. I have some Halloween candy to finish.
