Moments Like These

I love being at home with my kids. It’s the hardest, most tiring, and lowest paying job I’ve ever had, but it’s also the most fulfilling and joy-inducing role I could ever ask for.

However, there are some moments when I envy my husband going out the door in the morning, such as:

  • when my son decides he doesn’t like any vegetable except cucumbers (even though it’s really a fruit)
  • when there is a diaper explosion
  • when most two oldest are screaming at each other in the backseat of the car
  • when I was leaving the park last week with all three kids screaming and crying in unison
  • when they get a case of the gimmes in the grocery store/mall/gas station
  • after Grandma leaves and they’re still detoxing from being so spoiled
  • when it’s time to brush tangly hair
  • when they’ve had too much sugar or any pop
  • Luckily for me (and them), today was not one of those days. We baked and decorated Halloween cookies, snuggled, and watched Halloween cartoons. It was so nice, and it reminded me of just how lucky I am to be home with them and that these moments won’t last forever. Before I know it they’ll be grown.

Thank goodness for moment like these, because they make moments like those a little more manageable.
