It’s been a while since we’ve been down to the Kelowna farmer’s market. But, just this Saturday, we happened to be driving by while the market was going on and the kids begged from the backseat, “Puh-leeeeeze! Can we stop?” While knowing full well that stopping meant a million “Mom, can we get (lemonade/kettle corn/our faces painted/balloon animals)?” I really did miss the market.
Baby in stoller, we trucked through the market, making our regular stop at King’s Vegetarian Food (yum!) for a delicious snack of sweet & sour veggie meat. We also happened upon some amazing apples, pears, and other delights.
However, the highlight of any trip to the farmer’s market for me is the unbelievable people watching. Everyone at the market seems to be in such a good mood (even in spite of the weather). I’m not sure what it is, but it seems like people really slow down to take it all in – talking to the farmers, smelling the food, tasting some samples, checking out the handiwork of local crafters, and more.
Even though it’s almost the end of the season, I’m glad I had the chance to remember that the market is one of my favourite places to visit in Kelowna. And, it’s so nice to let the kids loose choosing all the veggies and fruit that they want to devour!
